π Top 5 Holiday Events to Enjoy Around DFW This Season
Your 2025 Guide to Family Fun, Festive Lights & Local Magic
The holidays are officially here, and if you’re anything like me, you’re ready for cozy nights, twinkling lights, and all the family memories you can pack into one season. Whether you're planning a night out with friends, a family tradition, or just looking for something festive to do close to home, DFW always delivers.
Here are five of the BEST holiday events happening around Dallas–Fort Worth this year — all family-friendly, full of cheer, and worth adding to your December plans. π β¨
π 1. Grapevine – The Christmas Capital of Texas
Grapevine goes all in for the holidays, and honestly, it never disappoints. Expect parades, millions of lights, holiday train rides, ice sculptures, photo ops, live entertainment, and more. This is a must for families and anyone wanting to soak up that Hallmark-movie level holiday magic.
Why go: It’s HUGE, festive, and makes for unforgettable family outings.
Tip: Go early — parking fills up fast!
π¦ 2. Dallas Zoo Lights
The Dallas Zoo transforms into a glowing wonderland with themed light displays, tunnels, lanterns, music, cocoa, and photo stations. It’s perfect for kids (and grown-ups) who want a magical, walk-through experience.
Why go: Beautiful displays + a fun, easy family night out.
Tip: Weeknights are less crowded.
π 3. Holiday at the Arboretum (Dallas Arboretum)
A stunning, picture-perfect holiday experience. The Arboretum is known for its incredible decorations, lifesize gazebos themed around The 12 Days of Christmas, and breathtaking lights at night.
Why go: It’s one of the most gorgeous holiday spots in DFW — amazing for photos.
Tip: Go near sunset — you get daylight and nighttime lights in one visit.
π 4. NorthPark Center Holiday Displays
From giant ornaments to festive installations and seasonal shopping, NorthPark brings the holiday spirit indoors. You can walk around, snap photos, shop, grab dinner, and enjoy a full evening of fun.
Why go: Great combination of festive vibes + shopping + holiday treats.
Tip: Visit weekdays for the best experience.
π 5. Local City Tree Lightings (Hurst, Bedford, Euless, Haslet + more)
These local city events are the heart of the holidays — free, family-centered, and full of small-town charm. Most include Santa photos, hot cocoa, music, food trucks, kids’ activities, and festive lights.
Why go: Easy, fun, and close to home — perfect for families.
Bonus: Many offer FREE Santa photos, including this year’s Hurst event (my family will be there!).
